NNH Residence
Mim Design and Emma Tulloch Architects bring understated luxury to this Malvern home, designed for sophisticated family living.
The Mim Design team are no stranger to designing inspiring family homes with a strong emphasis on authenticity and timeless accents. Home to the director of McLaren Developments, NNH Residence affirms this approach, where sleek architectural details are softened by grand curves and custom finishes.
A considered collaboration between Mim Design, Emma Tulloch Architects and the client, NNH Residence demonstrates fastidious detail, paired with an eye for statement art and objects.
As seen in the St Ninian’s Residence, a compelling staircase with a generous skylight above in the home’s entryway immediately juxtaposes the strong exterior, setting the tone for the contemporary interiors to follow.
Rich chocolate timber panels characterise the walls of the hallway, reflected in the kitchen. A solid marble slab forms a sweeping curve in the island bench, married with streamlined cabinetry, integrated appliances and contemporary black accents, to create a sculpturally-sophisticated entertaining area. The Series 430 Dining Chairs from Verpan add a playful touch of colour and elegance to the dining space.
Where we spend our time has a significant effect on how we lead our lives. As we evaluate the places in which we inhabit, we quickly realize that the spaces we take up were never made in our interest in the first place. There’s a disconnect.
That’s where Emma Tulloch Architects comes into the picture.
Operating within a design-focused approach, the problems their clients encounter are faced head-on with a carefully considered practice that values large and small decisions equally. It’s the realization that the container is only as important as its contents, and towing the line between style and function.
It’s not a formulaic approach. Each project is tackled through a holistic lens — one that values exploration and creative solutions over quick turnarounds, and ultimately allows us to arrive at a structure that is as practical as it is elegant.
All this comes together for a complete and total appreciation of space — knowing that what you inhabit was made just for you.
